Skier Type 1

Cautious skiing at lower visual indicator setting

  • Prefers slow to moderate speeds
  • Prefers gentle to moderate terrain
  • Receives lower than average visual indicator settings. This may increase the risk of inadvertent binding release in order to increase the likelihood to release in a fall.
  • Type I settings apply to "entry level skiers uncertain of their classification"

Skier Type 2

Moderate skiing at average visual indicator settings

  • Prefers a variety of speeds
  • Prefers varied terrain
  • Type 2 skiers are skiers who do not meet all the descriptions of Type 1 or Type 3.

Skier Type 3

Aggressive skiing at higher visual indicator setting

  • Prefers fast speeds
  • Prefers steep terrain
  • Receives higher than average visual indicator settings. This may reduce the likelihood of release in a fall in order to decrease the risk of inadvertent binding release.
