Cue the Jim Morrison and The Doors..."This is the end, my only friend, the end"

Depsite the curve that Mother Nature threw our way today, Camelback will open tomorrow.  Like any good hitter, we just sat back and took it the other way.  No hard feeling Momma Nature, you served up a healthy dose of belt-high-batting-practice fastballs all season long.  (Sorry for the baseball analogies, but it's Spring Baby..."Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play).

Okay, okay, here it is, straight from the big board:

We anticipate opening the Glen Lift at 8:30 a.m. Trail access will be limited to the GlenTerrainPark.  SuperPass holders can ride the Glen Lift and access the Glen Terrain park to get first trax beginning at 7:30 a.m.  Also, the Sunbowl slope will not be open, so skiers and riders should plan accordingly.

Please visit skicamelback.com prior to leaving in the morning, to confirm timings and to see if we have added the Sullivan lift with access to other trails.

The Sunbowl Complex will open at 8am to sell tickets and service the Glen Lift. Parking will also be available. Enjoy traditional BBQ fare (weather permitting) on the Sunbowl Deck for lunch. Guest Services will also be open at 8am, and will offer ticketing when the Sullivan Lift becomes operational.

The afternoon festivities, including the annual end-of-season photo, live entertainment and a great happy hour is still planned for the Thirsty Camel and Main Base Area.

Due to weather conditions we will not know what trails we will open tomorrow until early morning April 4th.  While it is possible that the Sullivan Lift will open, it is unlikely that there will be connected service from the top of the Sullivan to the GlenTerrainPark, so skiers and riders should reference trail maps and plan accordingly.
  •  Lift tickets for Saturday will be $9.99 per person, any age.
  •  SnowSportsSchool will be unavailable on Saturday.
  • Our rental shop will be unavailable on Saturday; however rentals can be purchased at The Loft on Sullivan Trail.
  • The annual end of the season photo will be at 5 p.m. on the Main Deck.
  • There will be drink specials and food available in the Thirsty Camel beginning at 4pm.
  • Zac Lawless will be performing in the Thirsty Camel from 2-6 p.m.
Once again, here's to an epic season...The Camel and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Play Ball,

Ricky (and The Camel)

Man, what a season it has been.  Just a quick update -  Camelback will reopen on Saturday, April 4, 2009.  Scheduled hours of operation will be 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  SuperPass holders can come get the last first trax of the season begining at 7:30 a.m.

Don't forget, our annual end-of-season photo is planned for 5pm.  Be sure to get to the base area so that your pretty mug can be forever  part of this record-breaking season.

Speaking of records, history and such...it finally came to me.  Why this season?  Well, as The Camel astutely pointed out, our master mountain manager, Bill Toye, literally has a lifetime of experience making snow at Camelback.

A lifetime you ask? ...Figure this math...your's truly, the blog-head, will celebrate his 34th birthday this April.  Bill Toye is celebrating his 34th season at Camelback with a record-breaking season.  Coincidence, The Camel thinks not.  So there it is, a lifetime of experience.  Senor Toye has been doing this as long as I've been alive.

Thanks Bill for a killer season...Steadily, his team of snow-guru's will begin to emerge from the darkness of night.  So, as you're schleppin' around campus picking up your pieces from the season be sure to thanks the guys walking around staring at the sun -- they deserve a monster pat on the back.

See you at the Beach,
Ricky (and The Camel)
