TANNERSVILLE, PA – This Saturday and Sunday, February 28 and March 1, 2009, Camelback Mountain Resort will host the season finals for the Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series Slopestyle and Halfpipe Competitions. At stake for this elite group of freestyle athletes will be the opportunity to qualify for the USASA National Championships, April 5-10, 2009 at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
TANNERSVILLE, PA – This Saturday and Sunday, February 28 and March 1, 2009, Camelback Mountain Resort will host the season finals for the Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series Slopestyle and Halfpipe Competitions. At stake for this elite group of freestyle athletes will be the opportunity to qualify for the USASA National Championships, April 5-10, 2009 at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
On Saturday, the Slopestyle event will be held in the Rhodo Terrain Park with heats beginning at 10:15 am and 1:00pm. On Sunday, The Halfpipe Competition will be held in the Oak Grove Pipe with heats beginning at 10:15 am and 1:00pm, as well. Registration will take place each day inside the Coconut Café between 8:00 am and 9:00am. All competitors must be a USASA member and Mid-Atlantic Snowboard Series member. Additionally, all competitors under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult. Awards will be presented each day following competition inside the Pennsylvania Room at Camelback Mountain Resort at approximately 3:00 pm. Subaru will also be out at Camelback this Saturday and Sunday as they host their “Master the Mountain” weekend of activities. Each day, the first 20 Subaru’s to arrive at the resort will receive complimentary preferred parking. Throughout the weekend, Subaru will showcase new models in the base area and will present “Mini-lessons” and the “Learning Lane” on the Mountain. Space is limited, so come early and enjoy the entire day.
“This is a great way to kickoff the last third of the season here at Camelback,” says Jerry Lawlor, VP of Marketing and Sales. Lawlor concluded, “Watching these kids on the rails and in the halfpipe is really unbelievable. This pulse-pounding action will set the tone for the entire month as we all begin to look forward to the annual Cardboard Box Derby and Pondskimming contests, as well.”
