Learn To Ski Or Snowboard In The Pocono Mountains! If you want your child to learn to ski or snowboard, have them ski the Poconos. Camelback offers Kids Half-Day Programs, single session Learn To Ski/Ride packages, 90-minute beginner lessons & private lessons. If you're a beginner or simply want to brush up on your skills, we can help you and your child prepare for your ski or snowboard adventure.
What kids Can Expect From Their Day
Expect lots of fun! We start each lesson with skill-building activities to capture kids' attention. First-time skiers and snowboarders will learn how to put on equipment, stand, balance, walk, get up and glide. Your child will ride the "magic carpet" lift located in our exclusive Children's Learning Area. Actual time on snow will vary depending on weather conditions and child's ability.
Some kids will be eager to participate while other kids may have a hard time adjusting at first. This is OK! Our instructors will make the experience fun for all kids no matter where they are in their stage of development. Children in this age group are just beginning to develop the muscle strength needed to ski or snowboard. We're not training for the Olympics; learning and FUN are the goals!
Before You Arrive
- Ensure that kids are well rested and have eaten a healthy breakfast.
- Bring them dressed and ready to ski or snowboard. Pocono Mountain weather conditions can change rapidly; layer their clothes so they can adjust to these conditions. Also include a warm hat, neck gaiter, water-proof gloves or mittens (two sets are recommended), snow boots, a good pair of long socks, long-underwear base layer, lip balm, sunscreen and goggles or sunglasses. Long scarves are not recommended and will need to be tucked into jackets, making it uncomfortable for your child to move.
- Helmets are not required, but please seriously consider the pros and cons of wearing one. Helmets are worn without hats underneath and are available to rent from our rental shop.
