One inch at a time, one jib at a time...
That’s how beginner park riders and freestyle skiers start at Camelback Mountain.
The Sunbowl Progression Park, located on the left side of the Sunbowl slope, is the place to learn important park skills on features that are low to the ground, provide gentle landings and have a mellow vibe focused on fun. You can lap the features by using the Sunbowl lift for quick uphill access or hike the features and session them again and again to hone your park skills. At the Sunbowl Progression Park you’ll find many of the features inside Terrain Park like boxes and rails, all just mere inches from the ground.
After mastering the Sunbowl Progression Park you can step up to our Terrain Park and continue your learning.
Terrain Park Safety
The National Ski Areas Association and Burton Snowboards would like to welcome you to the "Smart Style" Terrain Park Safety initiative. A cooperative effort with the help of the Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI) that emphasizes the proper use of terrain parks while delivering a unified message.
The Smart Style Terrain Park Safety Program Has Four Main Messages:
- MAKE A PLAN: Every time you use freestyle terrain, make a plan for each feature you want to use. Your speed, approach and take off will directly affect your maneuver and landing.
- LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP: Scope around the jumps first, not over them. Know your landings are clear and clear yourself out of the landing area.
- EASY STYLE IT: Start small and work your way up. (Inverted aerials not recommended.)
- RESPECT GETS RESPECT: From the lift line through the park.
